Company Overview:
We are a fast-growing telecommunications operator in Liberia, deploying a modern FTTH network to deliver reliable and high-speed broadband services to residential and corporate customers.
As part of our network expansion strategy, we are seeking a qualified and experienced FTTX Engineer – Installation & Customer Maintenance to strengthen our Access Network Operations team.
Overview & Description:
Reporting to the Access Network Manager, the FTTX Engineer will be responsible for:
- Ensuring high-quality FTTH customer installations
- Managing and resolving fiber-related incidents
- Supervising field teams and subcontractors
- Optimizing operational costs (OPEX)
- Enhancing customer experience and service reliability
This is a field-oriented role requiring strong technical expertise and operational discipline.
Responsibilities:
FTTH Installation Supervision
- Supervise customer fiber connections from PBO to PTO
- Validate fiber splicing and connector quality
- Measure and verify optical power levels
- Activate and provision ONTs on OLT systems
- Ensure compliance with technical standards
- Minimize repeat visits and installation failures
Maintenance & Incident Management
- Diagnose fiber faults (LOS, low optical power, cable cuts).
- Manage incidents caused by road works, vandalism, or accidents.
- Coordinate with NOC for timely resolution
- Reduce MTTR and recurring faults
- Implement preventive actions in high-risk areas
Subcontractor Management
- Supervise outsourced field teams
- Conduct installation quality audits
- Validate intervention reports
- Provide technical training and guidance
- Monitor subcontractor performance KPIs
Cost Optimization & Performance Control
- Reduce repeat visits
- Optimize material usage
- Monitor cost per installation
- Contribute to OPEX efficiency improvement
Technical Environment
- GPON /XGS-PON architecture
- Mainly aerial ODN deployment
- Equipment vendors such as Huawei and ZTE
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Networks, or related field.
- 3–7 years of hands-on FTTH installation & maintenance experience
- Proven subcontractor management experience
- Strong knowledge of OTDR and optical power measurement tools
- Good understanding of Monrovia’s operational environment is an asset
- Valid driver’s license required
