We are a fast-growing telecommunications operator in Liberia, deploying a next- generation Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network to deliver high-speed broadband services to residential and enterprise customers.

As part of our expansion strategy, we are seeking a highly skilled FTTX Design Engineer to support the planning and design of our fiber access network infrastructure.

 

Overview & Description:

The FTTX Design Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end planning and design of the fiber access network (FTTH/FTTX), ensuring cost-effective, scalable, and high-quality network deployment aligned with international standards and local operational realities.

The role requires strong technical expertise in ODN design, cost optimization, and field coordination within the Liberian infrastructure environment.

 

Responsibilities:

FTTX Network Design & Planning

• Design GPON/XGS-PON access networks from OLT to customer premises
• Produce High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation
• Design aerial and underground ODN infrastructure
• Define fiber routing, splitter placement, and capacity planning
• Optimize fiber counts and duct utilization
• Ensure scalability for future network expansion

Site Survey & Feasibility Studies

• Conduct technical field surveys in urban and semi-urban areas
• Assess pole infrastructure and right-of-way conditions
•  Evaluate environmental and civil engineering constraints
•  Prepare Bill of Quantities (BoQ) and cost estimates

Technical Documentation & Mapping

• Develop detailed network drawings and as-built documentation
• Update GIS databases and fiber records
• Maintain accurate network inventory records
• Ensure compliance with international telecom standards

Cost Optimization & CAPEX Control

• Optimize splitter ratios and fiber distribution 
• Design cost-efficient ODN architectures
• Reduce material waste and unnecessary civil works
• Provide CAPEX forecasts for rollout phases

Coordination & Technical Support

• Collaborate with deployment teams and subcontractors
• Provide design clarification during implementation
• Support troubleshooting of structural network issues
• Participate in technical validation and acceptance processes

Technical Environment

• GPON / XGS-PON architecture Primarily aerial ODN deployment Equipment vendors such as Huawei, ZTE
• Operations influenced by infrastructure and power supply constraints from Liberia Electricity Corporation

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 3–7 years of experience in FTTX/FTTH network design
• Strong knowledge of ODN architecture and Fiber planning
• Experience with GIS and network design tools
• Proven ability to work in challenging infrastructure environments
• Valid driver’s License preferred
