Overview & Description:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Heavy Duty Driver to operate and maintain TSAE’s compactor trucks for municipal waste collection and transportation. The ideal candidate must hold a valid Heavy Duty Driver’s License, have experience driving trucks in challenging urban environments, and possess basic knowledge of heavy-duty mechanics or hydraulic systems (an added advantage).
Responsibilities:
- Safely operate compactor trucks to collect, transport, and dispose of municipal waste as scheduled.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections (tires, brakes, hydraulics, oil, lights, etc.) and report any defects.
- Ensure adherence to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Conduct basic maintenance checks and assist mechanics in repairs when needed.
- Keep accurate logbooks of trips, mileage, fuel, and maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with waste collection teams to ensure timely and efficient operations.
- Report incidents, breakdowns, or accidents immediately to the Fleet/Operations Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum of High School Certificate.
- License: Valid Heavy Duty Driver’s License (mandatory).
- Experience: At least 3 years’ experience operating heavy-duty vehicles, preferably compactors or dump trucks.
- Added Advantage: Knowledge of heavy-duty mechanics and/or hydraulic systems.
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and discipline.
- Ability to work under pressure, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Good communication skills and teamwork abilities.
