Overview & Description:

TALWA Group is seeking an energetic, commercially driven and results-oriented Business Development & Marketing Lead to drive customer acquisition, market visibility, partnerships and revenue growth across the Group's businesses.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a strong commercial pipeline, identifying business opportunities, generating leads, engaging prospective customers, developing proposals and marketing campaigns, and supporting the conversion of opportunities into paying customers.

This is not primarily a social-media position. Digital marketing is an important part of the role, but the successful candidate must be comfortable with direct prospecting, institutional sales, client meetings, proposals, follow-up, and closing business.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement business-development and marketing plans across the Group.
  • Identify target markets, customers, and revenue opportunities.
  • Build and maintain prospect and customer databases.
  • Generate qualified leads through direct outreach, referrals, networking, digital channels and partnerships.
  • Initiate and participate in meetings with prospective customers and partners.
  • Develop proposals, quotations, presentations and commercial offers.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and systematically follow up on opportunities.
  • Support negotiation and conversion of prospects into paying customers.
  • Develop and coordinate marketing campaigns for the Group's businesses.
  • Coordinate digital marketing, social media, and promotional activities.
  • Conduct market and competitor research.
  • Identify opportunities for new products, services, customer segments, and sales channels.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and institutional relationships.
  • Support customer retention, cross-selling and repeat business.
  • Monitor campaign performance, conversion rates and commercial results.
  • Produce weekly and monthly business-development reports.
  • Work closely with business teams to ensure that marketed services can be delivered effectively.

Key Business Areas

The successful candidate will support commercial growth across businesses operating in areas including:

  • Environmental and sanitation services;
  • Food, ice cream, catering and institutional supply;
  • HR, recruitment and workforce services;
  • Professional training and education.

The ability to understand and sell different business propositions to different customer groups is therefore essential.

Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related discipline.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant business development, sales or marketing experience.
  • Demonstrated experience generating leads, developing business relationships, and contributing to revenue growth.
  • B2B or institutional sales experience is strongly preferred.

Required Skills

Candidates should demonstrate strong capability in:

  • Business development and B2B sales;
  • Prospecting and lead generation;
  • Client relationship management;
  • Proposal and business writing;
  • Presentations and pitching;
  • Negotiation and follow-up;
  • Digital and social media marketing;
  • Sales-pipeline/CRM management;
  • Market research;
  • Partnership development;
  • Basic pricing and commercial analysis.

Additional Information:

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate should be:

  • Commercially ambitious and strongly results-oriented;
  • Confident approaching prospective customers and decision-makers;
  • Persistent and comfortable with rejection;
  • Energetic and proactive;
  • Persuasive and articulate;
  • Creative and resourceful;
  • Capable of working with limited marketing budgets;
  • Disciplined about follow-up;
  • Comfortable being measured against customers, pipeline, and revenue;
  • Able to work independently while collaborating across several businesses.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first three months, the successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Functioning commercial pipelines across priority businesses;
  • Increased qualified leads and customer meetings;
  • Consistent marketing activity;
  • Increased proposals and commercial offers;
  • Acquisition of new customers and institutional relationships;
  • Measurable contribution to revenue; and
  • A credible pipeline of opportunities for continued growth.

Important

If your experience is primarily social-media posting, graphic design or communications without demonstrated business-development or sales experience, this position may not be the right fit.

We are looking for someone who can move opportunities through:

Prospect → Lead → Meeting → Proposal → Customer → Revenue.

TALWA Group is an equal-opportunity employer.

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
